Harry Kane scored his eleventh World Cup goal.
With that, he is the best World Cup goalscorer in England history.
England took home the group victory after 2-0 against Panama.
England were big favorites to win the group in Group L. But before the final round, Croatia and Ghana also had a chance for first place.
Panama made it difficult for the English for a long time, but after Jude Bellingham’s lead goal in the 62nd minute, it loosened up.
England won 2–0 and finished in the group. Senegal is now likely to be in the round of 16.
Before the lead goal, Croatia had a grip on first place as they had the lead against Ghana for a long time.
Step forward
Bellingham’s 1–0 came off a corner. The 22-year-old met the shot perfectly with his left foot.
In the 67th minute, Harry Kane stepped forward and scored his third goal of the tournament. It was his eleventh World Cup goal in his career. He is now alone in that. He previously shared first place in World Cup goals for England with Gary Lineker (10 goals).
The victory was, to say the least, welcome for the English national team, which had been under pressure after the cross in the last match against Ghana (0–0).
You also avoid more difficult opposition in the sixteenth part. A second place in the group would likely have resulted in a meeting with Portugal.
Croatia second
In the other match in the group, Croatia defeated Ghana 2–1. Petar Sucic gave Croatia the lead before Derrick Luckassen equalized for Ghana in the 73rd minute.
Nikola Vasic became the hero of the match for Croatia when he headed in the winning goal in the 83rd minute.
Croatia will face the runners-up in Group K. At the time of writing, it is Portugal. Ghana is still third in the group and faces first in the same group, currently Colombia.
