The Liberals demand reduced income tax in the first budget after the election, says party leader Simona Mohamsson. Sweden is also to become “the EU’s smartest country”.
L wants it to pay more to work and the state income tax to be lowered in several steps starting on January 1, 2027, according to Mohamsson. In the long term, it should be halved.
– It is a sharp demand in the upcoming blue-yellow negotiations. Today, it is a punitive tax for those who train for something really difficult, she says.
The tax hits high income earners. It is currently 20 percent of the excess for those who earn more than SEK 643,000 a year.
It costs around three billion kroner to lower the income tax by 1 percent, according to Mohamsson. The goal is to bring it down to 10 percent. She does not give an answer as to how it will be financed.
L also wants Sweden to become the EU’s smartest country in ten years. The goal is to be measured by combining international measurements such as Pisa and Timss, which rank students’ school results.
– You can also look at rankings of universities and eligibility after high school, says the L leader.
– We are the party that wants more. Instead of taking the size L, you can take the size M.
