Large amounts of oil have leaked into Kvillebäcken at Hisingen in Gothenburg, reports Göteborgs-Posten.
The emergency services were called to the scene on Sunday morning, and clean-up work has been going on during the day in collaboration with, among other things, the city environmental administration, the environmental administration and the police.
According to the authorities’ estimate, the oil has spread over one and a half kilometers along Kvillebäcken. It is unclear how much oil is involved and where the oil comes from.
– One theory is that this may have something to do with the heavy rain that has come in on Saturday. That it has somehow been washed out, says Peter Johansson at the rescue service to the newspaper.
Several birds are reported to have become stuck in the spill and the animal ambulance has been on the scene.
Cleanup work continues on Monday.
