The Moroccan national team received wide praise from media figures and sports activists after its victory today, Saturday, over its Scottish counterpart, with a clean goal, in the second round of the 2026 World Cup.
The Moroccan team raised its score to 4 points, after drawing in the opening round against Brazil, bringing it close to qualifying for the round of 32.

Arab media praise and celebration
Omani commentator Khalil Al-Balushi praised the team’s performance through his account on the “X” platform, saying: “A large presence of the Atlas Lions against the Scottish team. It was not an easy match, but the Moroccan team knew how to deal with its details and succeeded in gaining three valuable points that confirm the strength and self-confidence of this generation. An important victory brings Morocco closer to qualifying for the next round and confirms that the Atlas Lions are ready to compete strongly.”
For his part, Qatari journalist Khaled Jassim wrote on “X”: “Play, play, play, O children of Morocco, with the spirit and intention, you will bring it to the world level.. Brazil could not.. Scotland could not.. The Atlas Lions were above all in their group.. Saibari won it with a missile into the net.. and whoever wants the lead.. passes Morocco first.”
Tactical superiority and constant fighting spirit
Moroccan journalist Ashraf Ben Ayed published a video clip in which he praised the Atlas Lions and their distinguished performance against Scotland, and the continuation of the fighting spirit that the team has shown since facing Brazil.
Sports journalist Hussein Yassin also wrote on the X platform, saying: “Congratulations to Morocco, a team that holds the heads of its fans high, as well as their ambitions.”
The backlog of a World Cup candidate
Sports activist Talha Ahmed described the team’s performance as organized and convincing, tweeting: “On to the second round… Morocco is the first Arab team to reserve its place in the knockout rounds. A strong personality, convincing performance, and distinguished organization throughout the match. Although the victory came by a difference of only one goal, the level presented by the Atlas Lions was greater than the result. Morocco continues to confirm that it is one of the strongest teams in the tournament, and sends a clear message to all its competitors. Congratulations to Morocco and its fans for this well-deserved qualification.”
A sports activist attributed the team’s superiority to the cumulative work and infrastructure of the Moroccan football system, saying: “The Moroccan national team has moved from the stage of an ambitious underdog team to the stage of a major candidate team. Years of integrated sports work in the football infrastructure in Morocco have developed everything in the football system… Morocco has become a major national team and is treated as if it is indeed a major national team, and its far reaching in the knockout rounds is something expected and not a surprising event for all observers.”
In the same context, another activist emphasized the mental and physical strength of the team, saying: “This Moroccan generation is one of the strongest generations in the history of Africa. No team has reached the level of European teams before, and they are facing them one by one, and they are really going for the World Cup final, and we believe in it.. Mohamed Wehbe, the coach of Morocco, won the World Youth Cup, and he looks like he seriously intends to win the World Cup this year.”
