England striker Harry Kane has a unique record in his participation in the FIFA World Cup tournaments, after he became the player who scored the most goals from penalty kicks.
Kane scored England’s lead over Croatia on Wednesday evening in the first round match of the 2026 World Cup for Group Twelve. The same player also scored a second goal before the end of the first half, which ended in a two-goal draw, while the match ended with England winning 4-2.

The Bayern Munich striker’s goal was his fifth from the penalty spot in the history of his participation in the World Cup, to take the lead and break the partnership with 4 players who scored 4 goals from penalty kicks.

Before the match, Kane was on an equal footing with Argentine Gabriel Batistuta, Portuguese legend Eusebio, and Dutchman Rob Rensenbrink, as well as current Argentine legend Lionel Messi, who recently became the all-time top scorer in the World Cup with 16 goals, equal to former German star Miroslav Klose.
Amazing numbers
Kane has also reached more than 200 goalscoring contributions since joining Bayern Munich two seasons ago (201 contributions), by scoring two goals in Croatia, in his participation at the club and national team levels, with 178 matches.
Kane also became equal to his Norwegian counterpart, Erling Haaland, in terms of the scoring tally for each of them in the entire season, whether with his club or his country, as each of them scored 60 goals.
Kane also became England’s top scorer in the World Cup, reaching his tenth goal in 12 matches, equal to former star Gary Lineker, who achieved the same tally.
Kane also surpassed the goalscoring tally of Cristiano Ronaldo, the star and captain of Portugal at the World Cup level, as the latter scored only 8 goals.
