Hezbollah welcomed the memorandum of understanding that was announced reached between the United States of America and Iran, stressing that its members have not carried out any military operations against the Israeli occupation army since the announcement of the agreement, at a time when hundreds of Lebanese began, today, Monday, to return to their towns in southern Lebanon.

In a statement – reported on Monday by the Lebanese News Agency – the party praised Iran’s insistence on including the Lebanese front in the ceasefire agreement, which will be signed next Friday, considering that “the inclusion of Lebanon in the agreement reflects Iran’s commitment to ensuring a cessation of the war and preserving Lebanon’s rights.”

Hezbollah expressed its thanks to the regional and international parties contributing to removing obstacles to reaching this agreement, calling on the Lebanese government to benefit from this regional and international umbrella to achieve Lebanon’s sovereignty and liberate its land from the Israeli occupation.

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei confirmed that Lebanon is an integral part of the agreement to end the war, adding that the draft memorandum of understanding mentions Lebanon 3 times and stipulates ending the war on all fronts and respecting Lebanese sovereignty.

Baghaei stressed the need for the United States to ensure Israel’s commitment to stopping its war on Lebanon, in accordance with the memorandum of understanding announced yesterday evening, Sunday, between Washington and Tehran, with Pakistani mediation, to be signed in Geneva, Switzerland, next Friday.

Israeli violations

Despite the announced agreement, the Israeli occupation army, today, Monday, carried out bombing and bombing operations that affected a number of towns in southern Lebanon.

In response to the Israeli violations, Hezbollah affirmed, in a statement, that it will not accept any Israeli aggression against Lebanon, stressing its adherence to its right to defend Lebanese territory until the complete withdrawal of the Israeli occupation army from the country, and the return of Lebanese prisoners in occupation prisons to their homes.

A risky return

In another development, today, Monday, hundreds of Lebanese began returning to their villages and towns in the south of the country, amid calls for caution and caution due to the difficult security conditions.

Hezbollah has called on residents wishing to return to the south to be patient, exercise caution, and wait for official directives to ensure a safe return to their cities and villages.

In turn, the Lebanese Army, in a statement today, Monday, called on the people to wait before returning to the southern border villages and towns, calling on them to adhere to the directives of the military units, in order to preserve their safety from the dangers of Israeli violations and attacks.

There has not yet been any official Israeli rejection of the Iranian-American memorandum of understanding brokered by Islamabad, but ministers from the Israeli right as well as from the opposition attacked the agreement, which they considered harmful to Israeli security.

Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz announced, in a statement today, Monday, that Israel will not withdraw from the areas it occupies in southern Lebanon, Gaza, and Syria, which he described as “security areas.”

He said in a statement: “Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and I follow a clear policy that requires the Israeli army to remain in the security areas in Lebanon, Syria and Gaza for an indefinite period, in order to protect the Israeli borders and population centers from the jihadist elements present there,” noting that Netanyahu informed US President Donald Trump of this position.

Last April, the Israeli army announced the imposition of the so-called Yellow Line south of the Litani River in southern Lebanon, a strip that aims to prevent the return of displaced persons and defines the area extending from it, all the way to the border, as a security buffer zone in a repeat of the Gaza Strip model.

Since last March 2, that is, two days after the outbreak of the American-Israeli war on Iran, Tel Aviv has launched an expanded aggression against Lebanon, leaving 3,783 dead and about 11,700 wounded, in addition to more than a million displaced, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.
