Air traffic resumed at Munich Airport in Germany, on Saturday morning, after being temporarily suspended following suspicion of spotting a drone, according to what two police and airport administration spokesmen said.
German media, including Fox Online, reported that air traffic at the airport in southern Germany was suspended on Saturday morning after a suspected drone was reported, before flights returned to normal a short time later.
A police spokesman said that two pilots reported a suspicious incident involving what appeared to be a drone, shortly after 9:00 am local time (7 am GMT).
He added, “In coordination with the German Air Traffic Control Authority, the security authorities decided to close the airport’s runways.”
He pointed out that the police deployed a helicopter after the report, while security teams worked to clarify the circumstances of the incident.

No threat
For his part, an airport spokesman said that flights resumed at 10:05 a.m. local time, stressing that a large-scale search operation carried out by emergency teams did not reveal any threat to public safety.
The departing flights page on the airport’s website showed that a number of flights had been postponed or canceled as of eight in the morning GMT.
A spokesman for the German Stuttgart Airport said that air traffic was affected by the temporary closure, as many flights were diverted to other German cities, Stuttgart, Nuremberg, and Frankfurt.
Drones were seen several times at Munich Airport last year, which led to air traffic stopping and the German army intervening to confront them.
