Hockey icon Dennis Hull is dead.
It confirms his previous club, the Chicago Blackhawks, on its website.
The Canadian was 81 years old.
Just days after the death of Claude Lemieux, another NHL icon has died.
Chicago Blackhawks announces the death of the legendary Dennis Hull.
– We are very sorry to hear about Dennis Hull’s passing earlier this morning. Dennis had a distinguished career built on his scoring prowess and consistency, leaving a lasting impression not only on the Blackhawks but on the sport itself,” Blackhawks CEO Danny Wirtz told the club’s website.
His death was first confirmed by his nephew before the club issued an official statement.
“He was loved”
Hull enjoyed great success with the Chicago Blackhawks in the 60s and 70s where he played 13 of his 14 seasons in the NHL.
He was selected to five all-star games and accounted for a whopping 654 points during his career.
– Renowned in the league for his tremendous skill, toughness and intelligence, Dennis was as dominant on the ice as he was loved off it. He often used his sharp wit and humor to keep the locker room relaxed, while his warmth and humility made everyone he met feel welcome, Wirtz said.
Was 81 years old
During his career, he was often overshadowed by his brother, Bobby Hull, who was one of the world’s best hockey players in the 60s.
– On behalf of the Wirtz family and the entire Blackhawks organization, we extend our deepest condolences to Dennis’ family, friends and teammates, and the many fans who adored him.
Hull lived to be 81 years old.
