Henderson injury
After the final whistle, the England national team players exploded in joy at qualifying for the quarter-finals, and in the midst of that, Henderson was forced to go to the hospital after injuring his wrist, according to what the British website “The Athletic” reported.
Video footage spread on social media showed Henderson falling to the ground in a strange way, while trying to jump over an advertising billboard on the side of the Azteca Stadium.
The Three Lions players gathered around Henderson (36 years old), which led to the celebrations stopping for a short period, before they resumed later after checking on him.
Another video site showed Henderson leaving the field on a stretcher after being provided with oxygen, according to what the British newspaper The Guardian reported, before he was transferred to a hospital to receive treatment.
Later, Harry Kane, captain of the English national team, and his teammate Dan Byrne confirmed that Henderson had suffered a wrist injury, while German Thomas Tuchel stated that the injury was not minor.
Tuchel said in an interview with the BBC: “It’s not good. Jordan fell and hurt his wrist. The injury looks very bad.”
He later added in a press conference, “I am sad because Jordan injured his wrist. It is a rather serious injury. He is now in the hospital. I do not know what the next medical procedure will be.”
