This is how Alexander Andersson describes the step from P19 to senior football.
Djurgården’s giant talent left primary school last month and is now training continuously with the first team.
– It feels very fun. A dream since I was little, says the 16-year-old after a training session on Kaknäs artificial grass.
– I have trained from time to time with the first team before, but not so much. The focus has been on the school.
How was graduation?
– It was good. It was nice. A day I longed for (laughs).
Got a B in sports
Andersson finished the ninth grade with good grades, where the best subjects were music and woodwork.
– I actually got a B in sports. It was the theoretical parts that ruined.
This fall, he will start the social studies program.
How are you going to combine high school with football?
– We’ll see a little about that. I train here as a priority, then I have to catch up at home or go to the library. The school is quite close, so it’s quiet.
What are your goals for time in the first team?
– My highest goal is to break into a squad, get some minutes. I want to get into the group well, feel like I’m enjoying myself and so on.
The offensive piece has scored eight goals in twelve games in the P19 Allsvenskan this year. Last year, Andersson, as a 15-year-old, became the youngest ever in the Allsvenskan when he jumped in against Elfsborg.
On Monday evening, Djurgården’s first team plays its next match. The hedge stands for the resistance at Hisingen.
