Several arson attacks targeted the residences of Greek politicians early Wednesday morning. Now it is clear that one person has died.
The attacks were carried out in Thessaloniki against three politicians, all of whom belong to Greece’s ruling New Democracy party. Homemade incendiary bombs are believed to have exploded every few minutes outside three different apartment buildings, and several people were injured.
Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis stated during the evening that the mother of one of the politicians died of her injuries.
The death “confirms the murderous and inhumane nature of the blind violence that occurs in the public space,” Mitsotakis said in a statement.
