On Wednesday, the United States gathered several countries in the Middle East to discuss security in the Strait of Hormuz.
Now the talks are receiving criticism from Iran.
“The Strait of Hormuz is under Iran’s command, not Centcom’s,” Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi told X, referring to the US military command for the region.
The meeting took place in Bahrain and brought together the United States as well as eleven countries in the Middle East, reports Al Jazeera. The countries are said to have officially “confirmed their commitment to the free flow of trade” via the strait.
“A military summit in Bahrain cannot create law and order and security in the Persian Gulf,” Gharibabadi writes further.
