Kylian Mbappé’s France knocked Paraguay out of the World Cup.
It has not been well received by the Paraguayans.
After Celeste Amarilla’s racist attack, the hate continues to flow.
After Kylian Mbappé’s France knocked out Paraguay in the World Cup round of 16, Paraguayan senator Celeste Amarilla went to a racist attack against the French star.
Mbappé condemned Amarilla’s statements and French prosecutors are investigating the senator for the crimes of gross public insult and incitement to hatred or violence.
Now more hatred has been directed at Mbappé from the Paraguayan side.
Fired up “Mbappé”
During one of the country’s traditional San Juan celebrations, a doll representing the French team captain has been hung up – and burned. A video circulating on social media shows a man wearing a soccer jersey spraying fire at the fireworks-filled doll.
Setting fire to a doll is part of the San Juan tradition, and the doll should also be modeled after “the person you hate the most,” according to Ultima Hora.
“No sporting loss can justify such violence. My full support to Kylian Mbappé – an outstanding champion, admired worldwide – who continues to show remarkable dignity and example in the face of hatred”writes France’s sports minister Marina Ferrari in a comment to the clip on X.
Scolding politicians
In the television program Mesa con EVP, journalist Enrique Vargas Peña also rages against Mbappé – and senator Derlis Maidana – since the Paraguayan government distanced itself from Amarilla’s statements.
– Kylian Mbappé is a piece of shit and you shouldn’t bow to the French government getting upset! shouts Vargas Peña.
