Donald Trump and the United States received answers to speeches.

Both on the pitch and in the dressing room, the Belgian players took the opportunity to celebrate with Trump’s famous dance.

– Football won today, says Axel Witsel.

For a long time, during public appearances, Donald Trump has danced to the tune of the song YMCA The president of the United States does it by, among other things, moving his hands back and forth.

The Belgian players knew that.

When star striker Romelu Lukaku made the final score 4-1 in extra time against the USA last night, the Belgians struck.

Lukaku and several other players were seen celebrating by doing the Trump dance while cheering and laughing.

It continued in the locker room after the game.

Danced with torn cruciate ligament

Belgian HLN has published a video from inside Belgium’s dressing room where YMCA is played over the speakers while the players dance like Trump. In the clip from the dressing room, Amadou Onana, whose cruciate ligament was torn in the match, can be seen dancing with the crutches in full swing.

The reason is, of course, that Donald Trump entered the game after the USA’s Folarin Balogun received a red card in the round of 16 and would then automatically have been suspended against Belgium.

But Fifa changed the decision and he was allowed to play. Trump himself said he called FIFA president Gianni Infantino and asked him to review Balogun’s red card.

“Don’t Cry”

The Belgian players have of course taken part in the news coverage before the match.

– You can call this whole story what you want, but it was unfair. It motivated us and gave us that little extra spark, says Nicolas Raskin.

– We did not understand why Balogun suddenly had to play. But we also tried not to focus too much on that. ‘Don’t cry, but answer the plan. That was our approach, says Dodi Lukebakio.

Belgium meets Spain in the quarter-finals on Friday 21.00, Swedish time.
