The Brazilian Football Confederation announced that Carlo Ancelotti will continue in his position as coach of the national team, according to the federation’s director of football affairs, Rodrigo Caetano, who confirmed that the Italian coach will lead the Seleção during the next stage.
The decision came after Brazil’s sudden exclusion from the World Cup final, following a 2-1 loss to Norway, in a match during which striker Erling Haaland, who played a decisive role in bringing down the Brazilian national team, shone.

Immediately after the end of the match, questions began about Ancelotti’s future, especially since the Italian coach contracted with the Brazilian Federation before the tournament with the aim of leading the team towards regaining the world title that had been absent for years.
But the early exit raised doubts about his ability to achieve the expected goals, before the Brazilian Federation came out to deny any intention to dismiss him. Rodrigo Caetano said: “He is our coach and will remain so throughout the new World Cup cycle.”
Past mistakes
The Brazilian Federation official explained that one of the reasons for the team’s failure in the World Cup was the lack of technical stability during the period preceding the tournament.
Caetano said: “One of the main reasons for our failure in the World Cup was the absence of a strong and stable technical staff capable of properly preparing the team for the competition. We must not repeat the same mistake.”
He pointed out that Ancelotti did not take over the job until May last year, after a period that witnessed the change of three coaches for the Brazilian national team within a short time, which affected the preparation for the World Cup.
With the decision to keep Ancelotti, the Brazilian national team management seeks to open a new page based on continuity, after the team suffered in recent years from instability at the technical level. The Federation hopes to give the Italian coach enough time to build a team capable of competing in the upcoming competitions, instead of entering again into the cycle of changing coaches before major tournaments.
