Star defender Nuno Mendes was replaced injured against Spain early in the second half.

Few players are more important to Portugal than Nuno Mendes.
Perhaps the world’s best left-back contributes both forward and backward for the Portuguese and in the first half he had kept Spain superstar Lamine Yamal at bay.
But ten minutes into the second half he was replaced injured and Nelson Semedo came in.
– It could even be decisive in the match. Because the way Mendes has defended Lamine Yamal, not just anyone does. Nelson Semedo is not just anyone either, but he will be hot on the ears, says Jens Fjellström.
Tried to break
TV4’s expert was not sure that it was probably an injury to the back of the thigh.
Nuno Mendes appeared to be in pain after diving to try and break a tackle from Lamine Yamal. After that he sat down on the grass but continued to play for a few minutes.
In the end, however, it didn’t work anymore.
– Let’s hope it’s not serious.
