Al-Nasr Club, champion of the Saudi Professional Football League, announced today, Friday, the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as the team’s new coach under a two-year contract, at a time when the Australian seeks to revive his career after two difficult experiences in the English Premier League.
The club said in a statement, “A new chapter. Mr. Ange Postecoglou has been appointed coach of the first team at Al-Nasr Club. The contract extends for two seasons.” He added, “We wish him and his crew every success in their career.” Postecoglou had previously coached Tottenham Hotspur, whom he led to win the Europa League title in 2025, but he was dismissed from his position just two weeks after that after the team ranked 17th in the Premier League standings.

His tenure at Nottingham Forest in the 2025-2026 season ended quickly and harshly 39 days after his appointment, as he did not achieve a win in his first eight matches with the team, which included six defeats.
The 60-year-old coach was linked to the position of coach of the Scotland national team after Steve Clarke resigned following the team’s exit from the World Cup, and also to the position of coach of the Kazakhstan national team, but media reports indicated that his financial demands were too high for the Asian team.
Postecoglou is coaching Al-Nasr, which is played for by Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo, who led the club to the Saudi Professional League title in the final round of the season last May.
