Bobi Klintman describes the last few days as chaos.
But now the star has both made his A national team debut and found a new club.
– I thought I was going to the Summer League and playing with the Nuggets, but it will be the Euroleague now, says the 23-year-old.
It has been intense days for Bobi Klintman. At Wednesday’s press conference, the former Detroit Pistons player did not know where he would play next season.
The next day he was ready for the Euroleague team Virtus Bologna.
– It was back and forth with my agent the whole time. That’s why I said it’s chaos, it’s chaos, he says after the World Cup qualifying victory against the Czech Republic.
You didn’t know last Wednesday, did you?
– No, no, no! I thought I was going to Summer League and playing with the (Denver) Nuggets, but it’s going to be Euroleague now. Then we’ll see what happens.
Larsson’s pass
Klintman had to leave Detroit in April after two seasons. The 23-year-old had hoped that another NBA club would pick him up, but that has not happened.
– I have come to the point where I want to try to take on a bigger role, play and make a difference. I think I’m good enough for the NBA, but I don’t have a “standard deal” on the table right now so I have to go there, show what I’m about and try to go that route. I’m really excited about the Euroleague and showing what I can do.
Klintman accounted for 18 points and 12 rebounds in his A-team debut despite not having practiced with a team since being “waived” in April. Teammate Pelle Larsson had also hoped that an NBA team would pick up the Swede.
– Too bad for them, says the Miami Heat player with a smile and continues:
– I don’t think he’s had the chance to show what he’s up to. He has had some minor injuries and was in a very good team where they won and did not need to test him. I would love to see him get the chance in the NBA one day in the future.
