A former Google engineer was able to build a fully-functional search engine called “Zeter” that is capable of indexing more than 1.5 million articles from the open Wikipedia encyclopedia without writing a single line of code and using the “Cloud Code” tool from Anthropic, according to a report by the American “Business Insider” news site.
This is not the first project by former Google engineer Hugh Williams, as he previously built a cloud system that runs on Amazon’s AWS services within 48 hours using only Cloud Code.

The search engine built by Williams includes a set of modern features found in Google and leading search engines, including automatic suggestion of search phrases, as well as displaying related searches and even artificial intelligence summaries, which are the latest features added by search engines.
In his interview with Business Insider, Williams confirmed that he did not write a single line of code in the project, adding that Cloud Code did the entire programming work.
But he explained that he benefited from his previous information and experience from his work at Google, as well as his work on the information retrieval system that he contributed to developing at the beginning of the current millennium, and through this experience he was able to direct “Cloud Code” to build the search engine.

Williams describes his experience with Cloud Code as being closer to training than programming, because the tool performs best when combined with extensive programming experience.
Therefore, Williams believes that artificial intelligence tools will not replace programmers, but will work with them to facilitate their work and provide better performance.
Complete system on Amazon cloud in 48 hours
A separate report from Business Insider last August indicated that Williams worked on building software code for a project that runs on Amazon cloud services, relying solely on Cloud Code.
It took him only 48 hours instead of 3 weeks, according to Williams, who explained that he needed to learn a new graphic database while working on this project.
Williams added that “Cloud Code” at the time was suffering from errors that caused codes to be deleted from his project, in addition to it stopping working suddenly during the long programming sessions he had with the tool.
Williams is currently working at Paramount for film production and streaming platforms to improve its technology products, as well as the technologies it uses in advertising, according to a separate report from Business Insider.
The report indicates that Williams was one of the participants in inventing the infinite scrolling technology, adding that Microsoft founder Bill Gates had previously hired him to work on the company’s search engine, “Bing,” and then he moved to “eBay” before eventually joining “Google.”
