“You pay SEK 700-800 for a game you never own”
Gaming giant Playstation will stop selling physical discs starting January 2028, Variety writes, among others.
Last week came the news that “GTA VI” can only be purchased digitallyor as a code in box.
Now Playstation announces that it will completely stop selling physical game discs by 2028, citing that the “public preference for digital media has significantly overtaken physical discs”. But many players are upset and believe that this will mean the end of the secondary market and make it difficult to preserve gaming history.
Playstation also recently shut down the PS3 and PS Vita digital stores in some regions, showing that digital games only exist for a limited time.
