Film producer Harvey Weinstein has been taken to hospital, writes TMZ.
He is said to have suffered heart failure at Rikers Island where he is incarcerated.
According to the American site TMZ have Harvey Weinstein suffered from heart failure after pneumonia.
He is currently in prison at Rikers Island in New York, awaiting sentencing in September, after being convicted of sexual assault.
Get drips and antibiotics
Weinstein was reportedly taken to hospital two weeks ago after having difficulty breathing. Guards raised the alarm and he was rushed to the prison ward at Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan, where he is still being treated, according to sources with direct access.
The doctors connected him to a heart monitor, put him on a drip and gave him antibiotics for pneumonia. TMZ writes that he is now feeling better, but that the situation is still serious.
The former powerful Hollywood producer became a symbol of the metoo movement after being sentenced to prison in 2020 for rape and sexual assault. The conviction was overturned in 2024, but he was re-convicted of sexual assault in a new trial the following year.
