Despite the heat wave, rain and debris are now coming. SMHI warns that large parts of Norrland may be affected by torrential rain and thunderstorms.
The yellow warning that was previously issued for parts of northern Sweden on Monday has been extended and now applies to large parts of both central Norrland and Norrbotten County. SMHI writes on its website that 35–70 mm of rain can fall during the day and that there is a risk of flooding.
Since before, the authority has also issued an orange warning for high temperatures in parts of Blekinge, Kalmar and Kronoberg counties.
Weather warnings
SMHI has three levels of weather warnings:
Yellow warning: Consequences for society, some risks to the public.
Orange warning: Serious consequences for society, danger to the public.
Red Alert: Very serious consequences for society, great danger to the public.
