When Harry Styles and Olivia Wilde were a couple, their age difference caused an outcry.
To this day, the actor has a hard time understanding how their relationship could upset so many.

She and Styles met during the filming of the feature film “Don’t worry darling” in 2020. When it became known shortly afterwards that they were a couple, the reactions were not long in coming.
Many were especially outraged by the couple’s age difference.
– It really upset people. It was crazy. I don’t know how much I understand it even now. It’s one of those factors that I never really felt that I completely… I don’t know,” says Wilde.
Was called a profanity by strangers
The actor says that she was called “slut” and “bitch” by strangers when she went to concerts and danced. She believes Harry Styles’ devoted fan base may have contributed to the strong reactions.
– I think it also had a lot to do with the kind of parasocial relationship that people had, and have, with him. It is a burden that is very heavy and not something I envy him. He wears it with grace. I think it’s a huge responsibility that all those stars have to carry, and it’s absolutely damn impossible, says Wilde.
After the separation from Jason Sudeikis – points to double standards
When the relationship with Styles became known, Wilde and the actor had Jason Sudeikis50, recently separated. In the podcast, she reacts to how differently they were treated after the breakup. Sudeikis then dated the eleven-year-younger model Keeley Hazell39 – without raising the same storm.
– Jason was photographed with his girlfriend on a beach in Costa Rica or something. And the press was like: “Cheers to him! He looks so happy, so wonderful”. And I just: If I’d been away from my kids on a national holiday and running around on a beach, it would have been, “Burn her now. Take her away. Take the children away from her forever and burn her to the ground,” says Wilde.
