Iran warned on Friday of what it said was the flight of Israeli aircraft in the airspace near its territory, stressing its right to respond, while Tel Aviv issued a new threat to Tehran.
The Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters said that it considered “the movements of Israeli aircraft near Iran a serious threat,” without specifying when it monitored the flight of Israeli aircraft.
He added, “The movements and presence of military aircraft belonging to the terrorist Zionist entity’s army in the airspace of some neighboring countries towards Iran are considered a dangerous act and a threat directed against the Islamic Republic of Iran,” without clarifying the exact whereabouts of the Israeli plane.
He added that Iran “reserves the right to respond to these measures” if the United States is unable to restrain Israel, as he put it.
The headquarters of Khatam al-Anbia is the highest operational command body in the Iranian Armed Forces, and the supreme coordination department between its various formations, especially between the regular army and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
Israeli threat
Meanwhile, Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz warned that if Iran launched an attack on Israel, this would be Tehran’s “biggest mistake.”
This also came after Quds Force Commander Ismail Qaani stressed – yesterday, Thursday – that if Israel does not voluntarily withdraw from southern Lebanon, it will eventually be forced to withdraw in defeat.
Katz added that the commander of the Iranian Quds Force continues to make threats “repeatedly and ridiculously these days,” noting that “it will not benefit Iran by closing Hormuz or attacking civilians, as nothing will stop us and we are ready to finish the mission,” he said.
It is noteworthy that the United States and Iran are engaged in technical negotiations regarding a permanent peace agreement, after announcing that a 14-item memorandum of understanding had been reached with Pakistani mediation, in the wake of the American-Israeli war on Iran that began at the end of last February.
During the war, Israel launched air strikes on Iran targeting what it said were military sites and facilities related to the nuclear and missile programs, while Tehran responded with missile strikes on Israel.
