An 18-year-old Frenchman named Kylian Mbappe revealed unexpected details from his daily life, due to his similarity in name to international football star Kylian Mbappe, the French national team striker and one of the most prominent stars of the 2026 World Cup.
According to statements reported by French media, the young man’s life was not normal at all, as his identity turned into a source of funny and embarrassing situations, which sometimes reached the point of threatening to call the police, and sometimes to special treatment in upscale places.

An embarrassing situation with transport supervisors
The young man recounts that he was exposed to a difficult situation while traveling on public transport in the Paris region, when ticket controllers stopped him because he did not have a Navigo card. Because his phone ran out of battery, he was unable to immediately prove his identity, so he was forced to give his full name: Kylian Mbappe. However, this response was not taken seriously at first, as one of the observers thought he was joking or trying to make fun of the situation, telling him: “We don’t have time for such pranks.”
Despite his attempt to explain that he had the same real name as the French star, the situation escalated to the point of threatening to call the police, before his identity was later verified.
Pressure in the stadiums because of the name
The strange situations did not stop there, as the young man revealed that during a local match in the Seine-Saint-Denis area two years ago, he was harassed by fans of the opposing team, who used his name to mock him throughout the match.
The chants were repeated sarcastically: “You are not at his level, you will never be like him,” referring to the famous star Kylian Mbappe. The young man says that despite this, he was trying to ignore the matter and focus only on playing football and enjoying the match.
Unexpected perks due to the name
Despite the negative aspects, the famous name also opened some unexpected doors for him. The young man narrated that he once reserved a table at a luxury restaurant in Paris using his real name, only to be met with silence for several seconds from the receptionist, before the reservation was confirmed with unusual speed.
When he arrived at the restaurant, he was surprised that the employees assigned him one of the best tables in the place, indicating that his name was enough to raise doubts about whether he was the real star or not.
