Amir Qala Nooyi, the coach of the Iranian national football team, stressed that the confrontation with his Egyptian counterpart in the third and final round of the seventh group competitions in the group stage of the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the United States, Mexico and Canada, will be subject to technical calculations completely different from those that preceded it.

Qala Nooyi explained in media statements on the eve of the match with the “Pharaohs” that the Iranian team, which currently occupies second place in its group with two points (after two draws with New Zealand 2-2 and with Belgium without goals), deals with each opponent according to a special philosophy.

He said: “It is not possible to compare Egypt and Belgium. We are talking about completely different ways of playing, and it is not correct to compare the matches, as each match is different from the other.”

Qalaa Nooyi continued, stressing the technical staff’s approach to preparation: “We are currently analyzing the performance of the Egyptian team after we analyzed the performance of the Belgian team in a different way. We are changing our playing style based on the identity of the team we are facing.”

Determined to win

Despite his acknowledgment of the logistical challenges, specifically the limited time allocated for recovery after the previous match, the coach confirmed that his team is determined to deliver a strong performance against the Egyptian team (leading the group with four points), indicating that they will work on physical and mental preparation to maintain the same level they showed in the first two rounds.

Regarding the surrounding atmosphere and the accompanying events that may occur during the match, Nooy Castle stressed that his team is staying away from any conversations outside the sporting framework, stressing: “We are here to play football only, and we will put our full focus on facing Egypt and trying to achieve victory. We do not want to talk about anything else. Let us focus on football, as it is a beautiful game and we should enjoy it.”

Kalaat Nooyi concluded his statements by noting that the team was now in a more stable position after arriving in Seattle at an appropriate time, as the trip took three hours, which reflected positively on the physical and mental state of the players before the expected confrontation on Friday evening, local time.
