The heat has hit Sweden – and with it there is also a high to extremely high risk of forest and land fires in large parts of the country.
According to SMHI’s warning, there is a high to extremely high risk of fires in large parts of Götaland and Svealand from midnight to 11 pm on Friday.
On Gotland there is a high or very high risk during Friday. The warning was already issued on Sunday and is valid until further notice.
SMHI urges great caution when lighting fires and using large machines outdoors, which can cause sparks with rapid fire progression as a result.
Fires in conduits can also lead to disruptions in the electricity and telecommunications network, SMHI points out.
As of Thursday afternoon, there is a fire ban on all of Gotland.
