For his part, a spokesman for the Iranian Football Federation confirmed that the national team will leave its training camp in the Mexican city of Tijuana on Wednesday, heading to Seattle in preparation for its next match.

Andrew Giuliani, executive director of the White House Task Force on Coordination with FIFA, said in statements to the Associated Press: “This was planned on our part. We intended to monitor the progress of the team’s previous two trips, and if things went smoothly, we would give them an additional day given the length of the travel period.”
NBC News was the first to reveal this change in American policy, which comes at a time when negotiations continue between officials from the United States and Iran regarding ways to end the war in Iran.
