The Secretary-General of the Lebanese Hezbollah, Naim Qassem, said today, Tuesday, that the recent developments showed that a stage had been reached in which “the Israeli project was broken,” considering that the course of the confrontation and the ensuing ceasefire represented a shift in the course of events, as he described it.

Qassem added, in a televised speech, that what was achieved on the ground was the result of choices, timings, and steps that he described as having contributed to reaching a ceasefire, considering that this step must be followed by a second phase, represented by “complete withdrawal from Lebanese territory.”

He stressed that the only guarantee for liberating the land and preserving independence and sovereignty lies in “resistance in the face of the occupation,” stressing the need to set a timetable for Israeli withdrawal from Lebanese territory.

He said that “Israel has no choice but to withdraw,” adding that “the occupation cannot keep a single inch of our land under any title.”

He also sent a message to the Lebanese authority in which he called on it to benefit from the capabilities of the resistance, saying that the resistance is “ready” to support this path.

The Secretary-General of Hezbollah touched on Iran’s role during the final stage, praising its position. He said that Tehran had shown the ability to be steadfast and fulfill its obligations, and he considered that its acceptance of ending the war was also linked to ending the war on Lebanon.

He added that previous expectations indicated the possibility of Iran abandoning or reducing support for Hezbollah, but he denied this, and praised what he described as Iran’s positions, leadership, and continued support for the party.

Earlier today, Hezbollah accused the Israeli occupation forces of violating the ceasefire after targeting civilians in Nabatieh, southern Lebanon, killing two people.

This targeting comes despite the signing of a memorandum of understanding by the United States and Iran on June 18, which stipulates among its provisions an end to the fighting in Lebanon.

Since March 2, 2026, Israel has launched an aggression against Lebanon that has resulted in 4,192 deaths and 12,171 injuries, in addition to more than a million displaced people, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.
