UFC legend Dustin Poirier, 37, threatened a police officer with violence.
Everything was caught on film.
“I need help” writes the former fighter Instagram.
Last Sunday – on Father’s Day in the USA – Dustin Poirier was arrested at an airport in Atlanta for being drunk in a public place.
The American was denied boarding on a plane and threatened a police officer, which was caught on the officer’s body camera.
– I can fight with you right away. This is going to end badly, Poirier is heard saying as he pulls off his backpack.
“Alcohol is not the answer”
The images were widely circulated on social media and American press – and now Poirier is speaking out about the incident.
“I’ve come to a point where I need help. It hasn’t been easy for me to leave the fighting career behind, and alcohol is not the answer. It ruined my dad’s life and I’m not going to let it ruin mine. My family deserves to have me at 100 percent. I’m trying to do everything I can to clear my mind and take the right steps forward.” writes Poirier on Instagram.
Knocked out McGregor
Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier retired last summer after losing the title match for the BMF belt to Max Holloway.
The most notable victory of his career came in 2021 when he knocked Conor McGregor in the Irishman’s UFC comeback.
