GOTHENBURG. Former star agent Masireh Jadama, 43, remains in custody, suspected of serious financial crime.
But the prosecutor now sees the end of the preliminary investigation.
– September is a kind of limit. The prognosis is prosecution, says Henric Fagher.
Last fall, Jadama was arrested in Vienna by Austrian police. At the turn of the year, he was extradited to Sweden and detained Gothenburg District Court.
Since then, the former agent, whose company Universal represented star players such as Alexander Isak, Yasin Ayari and Robin Quaison, has been in custody with restrictions on communication with the outside world, suspected of serious money laundering and serious accounting offences.
Probable prosecution this fall
On Monday, Jadama was re-arrested.
– He will be in custody until June 26 if nothing unexpected happens. I have also told the district court that further detention periods may be relevant before I make a decision on possible charges, says prosecutor Henric Fagher.
What does it mean in time?
– In September, Jadama was detained for nine months. It is a kind of grace period, because after that there are even higher requirements for re-arrest.
Will there be prosecution then?
– My forecast is that I will bring charges. But it is important that I constantly test the evidence.
How do you see Jadama being detained for so long?
– It is a long time to be detained, but in this case it has been justified. I think so, and so does the district court that decided on detention. This is because investigations are ongoing in Sweden and abroad.
Withheld from tax
– Regarding the suspicions, I cannot go into detail about them or which countries are affected, says Henric Fagher.
Have more footballers been heard as witnesses?
– We have heard from several people, but I cannot comment on who.
Masireh Jadama’s defender Alparslan Tügel says:
– I think there are no grounds for detention. Other than that, I can’t leave any comments.
At least six more people are charged with criminal charges in the tangle, which basically deals with how transfer income and agent fees from player sales have been reported and withheld from taxation.
In the past year, Jadama and former associates and players in the Universal sphere have also been subjected to explosions and shootings in what are believed to be demands for money from people with strong links to gang crime.
Those parts are not investigated in the preliminary investigation into financial crime.
Already in June 2017 wrote Sportbladet about the strange watch businesses which the football agent Jadama (anonymized in the article) conveyed to heavy criminals.
By then, Jadama had made a rocket career in the agent industry with participation in the record sale of Alexander Isak from AIK to Borussia Dortmund together with international storage agent Vlado Lemic via the company Universal.
Does not investigate matches
In the newly published book Football Agents by Andréas Sundberg, reporter on the Football Channel, information appears about plans for layovers in 2023 from players in AIK who were then linked to Universal.
Is it information you are investigating?
– As I said, I do not go into details in our investigation, but we do not investigate bribery, says prosecutor Henric Fagher.
If Jadama is charged and later convicted of the suspected crimes, he faces up to six years in prison.
