US President Donald Trump expected British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to step down from his position under intense pressure.
Trump wrote on his platform, “Truth Social”, on Sunday, that “Starmer will resign from the position of Prime Minister,” adding that he “failed miserably on two very important issues: immigration and energy… I wish him success.”
In this context, British Business and Trade Minister Peter Kyle stated that Starmer is thinking about the political reality and the challenges facing it, and is holding “conversations with a very large group of people.”
These statements and positions intersect with what was revealed by Western media, including the British Observer newspaper, which expected that Starmer “will set a timetable for departure.”
In the same vein, Sky News revealed that British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper was among the senior ministers who advised Starmer to resign.
These developments come after Starmer’s political opponent, Andy Burnham, won a parliamentary seat in by-elections, the day before yesterday, Friday, which qualifies him to compete with Starmer for the positions of leader of the Labor Party and prime minister, after Burnham fulfilled the membership requirement in Parliament to run for party leadership.
