Spanish national football team coach Luis de la Fuente confirmed on Sunday that his striker Lamine Jamal is “in ideal physical condition to participate in a series of matches,” after scoring a goal before leaving at the end of the first half of the match against Saudi Arabia (4-0) in the second round of the Group H competitions in the 2026 World Cup.
The coach said in the press conference: “Of course, we had to see how the match would go, but today was an important step for the future. He is already in perfect condition, and it is also good to leave him like this, with greater motivation.”

He added: “If the result had been different, he would have participated longer. The match was settled, and we saw that his contribution was enough for us to be able to rely on him throughout the match the next time. He finished the first half very happy. He came back.”
He continued: “Lamine is in excellent condition to play full matches in succession, and what can we say about Oyarzabal: He had some minor problems. We cannot say everything, but he continues to provide an exceptional performance,” referring to the owner of the double and the assist.
He explained that the Real Sociedad striker “has a tremendous influence on the national team, which no other player in the world has. In this match, he was the first player to score two goals and assist a goal in 24 minutes.”

The 65-year-old coach continued: “We must continue to improve if we want to reach the 19th (July, the day of the final), and today there is also self-criticism. The most positive aspect is that this team has an exceptional margin for improvement. Today we corrected some aspects of the game that did not work well in the last match.”
For his part, Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo said that this match “gives us a better feeling than the first match, this is clear, but we knew that by playing the way we always play, results and goals will come.”
He concluded in the mixed zone: “We have had confidence from the beginning. We have level and quality, and we just have to show that on the field, and that’s all.”
