Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit underwent a lung transplant on Wednesday. Queen Sonja is now the first royal to speak out about the operation.

The Crown Princess has been ill with pulmonary fibrosis since 2018 and her condition has worsened in recent months. On June 5, the news came that she had been put on the waiting list for a transplant.
