Busy start for Isak Hien against the Netherlands.
In the break, the center back was sawn by John Guidetti.
– He has had it really, really tough, says the TV4 expert.
Guidetti thought, among other things, that Sweden and Hien should have pushed up to midfield before the long ball that led to the Netherlands’ 1–0 goal.
Hien first lost the duel against Brian Brobbey and then lost the mark on the Dutch forward at the goal.
– Here he lets (Hien) Brobbey set the line. Instead of it being a main duel in midfield, it will be a duel where he (Brobbey) has to suck it down and there will be a change, says Guidetti in TV4.
On the ensuing play, Hien slipped the ball past him, whereupon Brobbey tapped in to make it 1–0.
– Isak Hien: please, one, one, one. You can’t lag behind there, says Guidetti.
Norwegian critics: “Shocked”
Even in Norway, Hien had to receive juicy criticism.
– It is almost shocking to see so early in a WC match. I almost get angry. It’s a defensive game unlike any other, says NRK expert and former Norwegian national team player Magnus Wolff Eikrem.
He continues:
– I had freaked out on the defender (Hien). In any case, I had told him. And then it happens again right after. I’m kind of shocked that it’s even possible. Sweden loses the match here.
The Netherlands then made it 2–0, also through Brobbey. Again, it was Hien who missed the mark.
– Brobbey makes life miserable for Hien. He completely dominates him and is too strong for Hien, said former England international Alan Shearer in the BBC.
Directly in the second half, Cody Gakpo made it 3–0. Before the hour was played, Gakpo scored 4–0. Anthony Elanga, who was substituted in the second half, reduced it to 4–1.
