HOUSTON. Sweden sits on the bench before the drama against the Netherlands.
Then Graham Potter sends a greeting to Sweden.
– We want to put on a show, says the union captain.
Midsummer Day and 7 p.m. The kick-off time for the match against the Netherlands could not have been much better.
Before the Tunisia match, the television audience at home had to set the clock or stay awake, but now no one has to worry about either oversleeping or dozing off.
– It will be fantastic fun to go out and play this match and there will probably be a lot of Swedes sitting at home watching the match and some here on site too. It is incredibly fun to have the opportunity to play such a match, says Victor Nilsson Lindelöf.
Graham Potter also sends a greeting to all Swedes at home.
– We know what a special day it is for everyone back home and we are obviously looking forward to the match ourselves. We want to put on a show, we want to play well and of course we want to win the match. We face a tough opponent and it will be a great game. The support we’ve had has been fantastic so I’m very, very grateful for that, he says.
Don’t want to sit in the “Fifa bubble”
Both Potter and Lindelöf have taken part in the WC fever from home and are trying to take in as much as possible.
– It’s fun to see that so many people are watching and are tagged and excited about it. When you see Sweden so deep in a championship, it’s cool, but you have to find a balance within yourself. We have our WC bubble, but it’s also very fun to see that so many people are committed, says Lindelöf.
Potter agrees.
– It would be a shame if you only sat in a small Fifa bubble, with all due respect. I want to experience the supporters and the places we visit. Everyone has been fantastic. The welcome and love we have received has been amazing. It is an important part of the experience, he says,
