England national team coach Thomas Tuchel expressed his dissatisfaction with the way the presence of photographers was organized during the playing of the national anthem before the match between England and Croatia in the 2026 World Cup, calling on the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) to intervene to amend this procedure.

Tuchel said that he was unable to watch his players while chanting the “God Save the King” anthem, due to the presence of a large number of photographers who blocked his view at that moment, considering that this affected his experience in his first appearance in the World Cup with the England national team.

The German coach explained that the moment was very emotional for him, adding: “I was impatiently waiting for this moment, but the presence of about 50 photographers in front of me made me unable to see the players, and this spoiled part of the experience for me.”

Despite this, the English team succeeded in defeating Croatia 4-2, in a match that witnessed a strong start for Tuchel’s teammates in the tournament.

The England coach concluded his speech by emphasizing that participating in the World Cup represents a major dream in his coaching career, considering that such moments carry a special emotional value that cannot be easily repeated.
