At the bottom is the economic policy
That’s a lot to take into Lisa Röstlunds seventh part of the review of the Fållöknastiftelsen, which is owned and run by the prime minister’s wife Birgitta Ed and the couple’s mutual friend Goran Thorstensson. So the reader must be forgiven if he does not reach the end of the fact box at the bottom of the text. But it says, among other things:
One of the most important and largest financiers of the international research on existential health is an American foundation, the John Tempelton foundation. Among other things, it has provided another seven million kroner The Institute for Business Researchwhose board is appointed by Swedish business, to research “human flourishing” and economic inequality – they want to “nuance the discussions about taxation and more redistribution ‘by using a distinction between fair and unfair inequality'”.
Is this the long-term goal of it all? To desensitize us to economic injustice?
I understand that it sounds like paranoia, but the murky mess of fully and semi-professional collaborations and personal relationships within the state, business, the Church of Sweden and the prime minister’s closest ones as Röstlund has exposed makes one suspicious. It’s probably so offensive to read about people who max out their privileges and take shortcuts – Aina Erlander doesn’t live here anymore – but maybe there is a higher purpose to this whole soup: That the Swedes, like pain patients, should find acceptance, be made to realize that economic inequality is something we have to live with.
Because one should not forget that even though Ed and Thorstensson want to work with existential health at Fållökna, they also have interests in the welfare capital. And it is best if it is allowed to have its most material gains in peace.
