The prices of various cultural events have increased by 55 percent, almost twice the rate of inflation, in the last ten years.
This shows a comparison made by the financial service Zmarta. Even bigger price increases are seen at the big festivals, such as Sweden Rock or Way Out West, whose festival passes cost almost 70 percent more.
Ticket prices for the biggest arena concerts have “in several cases” more than doubled since 2016. Meanwhile, movie and TV services have raised prices almost at the same rate as live music, according to Zmarta.
For the streamed music, however, the price increase is more modest, likewise for cinema and theater tickets.
“What was previously seen as fine culture, such as Drama, is more accessible than in a long time,” says Ola Söderlind, household economist at Zmarta/uScore.
