Linda Sembrant ends her career.

The family is expecting an addition.

– It is a sadness to leave football, says Sembrant, 39.

After a long and successful career lays Linda Sembrant now the shoes on the shelf. The 39-year-old has last season played for AIK in the women’s league and scored the decisive 2-1 goal in the 97th minute in his last home match, on May 27 against Häcken. The subsequent – and very last match – was played away against IK Uppsala.

– The end with AIK could not have been better. The last match at home when I get to decide in the 97th minute in front of all your fantastic supporters and the last match in my career “at home” in Uppsala in front of AIK supporters, but also in front of family and friends, says Sembrant to AIK’s website.

The reason why the experienced defender is now ending his career is that the family is expecting an addition.

– I have one last thing to tell you that has led me to this decision. It is that we have recently been an extra player on the pitch, says an emotional Sembrant in a video on Instagram.

During his long career, Sembrant, in addition to AIK, represented clubs such as Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC, Tyresö FF, Montpellier HSC, Juventus FC and FC Bayern München.

In addition, Linda Sembrant made a total of 160 international matches for the Swedish national team. With Blågult, Sembrant won WC bronze in 2011, 2019 and 2023 – as well as Olympic silver in 2016.
