A cheerful atmosphere prevailed inside the Qatari national team camp in preparation for the 2026 World Cup, scheduled to be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico, starting on June 11.

A video clip showed a competitive atmosphere among Annabi players during a competition that included sports and cultural questions, where the players were divided into two teams, the first led by Assem Madibo and the second led by Abdel Aziz Hatem.

The Qatari team was drawn to compete in the World Cup in Group Two, where it will open its campaign against Switzerland in San Francisco on June 13, before heading to the Canadian city of Vancouver to meet the Canadian national team on June 18.

Annabi will conclude its matches in the group stage by facing the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team in Seattle on June 24.

In this context, Qatari national team goalkeeper Mahmoud Abu Nada stressed that qualifying for the 2026 World Cup finals represents a historic moment and a source of great pride for all the people of the country, stressing that the joy of reaching the World Cup was not limited to the players only, but included the entire Qatari people.

Abu Nada said, in video statements published by the Qatar Football Association account on the “X” social media platform, on the sidelines of the team’s camp in Santa Barbara, California, that the feelings of qualifying for the World Cup cannot be described in words, adding: “It is an indescribable feeling to qualify for the World Cup. This is the joy of an entire nation, and we hope to be up to the responsibility and to appear in the best possible way in the world championship.”

The Annabi goalkeeper praised the support and confidence he receives from the technical staff led by Spanish coach Julen Lopetegui, stressing that this constitutes an additional incentive for him to give his best.

He continued: “I hope to represent Qatar in the best possible way at the World Cup, and to contribute with my colleagues to achieving results that please our fans.”

Regarding the level of competition expected in the World Cup finals, Abu Nada stressed the difficulty of all confrontations, noting that the qualifying teams have similar levels and great ambitions.

He explained: “There is no easy match in the World Cup. All the qualified teams have quality and ambition, so we have to give everything on the field and fight every minute in order to achieve our goals.”

The Qatari national team goalkeeper concluded his statements by sending a special message to the Qatari fans, appreciating the great role they played in the process of qualifying for the World Cup, especially during the decisive confrontation with the UAE in the Asian playoff.
