The Japanese national football team was forced to change its training location twice in just two days in Mexico, due to the poor condition of the stadium floors as a result of the recent weather conditions, in an imperfect start to the Samurai Blue’s preparations for the World Cup.
The Japanese national team arrived this week in the city of Monterrey, where it initially chose a stadium belonging to the Tigres Unal club to conduct its training. However, the deteriorating condition of the field field prompted the technical staff to quickly search for an alternative, and they moved to a stadium belonging to a local university designated for the Japanese U-19 team, according to the Sports Hochi newspaper.

But the technical staff continued to be unsatisfied with the ground, prompting the team to take a new decision to move again the next day, this time to a training field belonging to the Monterrey Club, according to Japanese press reports.
In this context, Masakuni Yamamoto, technical director of the Japanese Football Association, confirmed that the players are dealing calmly with these circumstances, explaining that the primary goal is to provide an appropriate training environment that ensures the best possible preparation for the World Cup.
Yamamoto said, according to what was reported by Japanese media: “We made these decisions in search of a better environment for training, and due to bad weather conditions this cannot be avoided. We want to make sure we are fully prepared.”
He added that the team will begin training at its main camp early next week in the American city of Nashville, where preparations are expected to proceed more stably.
The Japanese national team will begin its World Cup campaign against the Netherlands on June 14, before facing Tunisia and Sweden in its group competitions.
