Anthony Elanga is down.

These are the pictures that no one in Sweden wants to see.

Anthony Elanga, 24, is feared to have injured himself after the WC general rep against Greece.

– You can take it with Graham, says press manager Petra Thorén.

After Sweden’s WC rep against Greece ran the players who did not get as much playing time a planned extra training.

That’s when the accident happened to Anthony Elanga, who played barely 30 minutes in the match.

The attacker was left lying on the grass and looked to be in a lot of pain. Sportbladet’s pictures show Elanga receiving care from the national team’s medical team.

– They ran an extra play in there and something happened. He left the field, but he left himself, says national team press manager Petra Thorén.

Union captain Graham Potter explains what happened to Elanga.

– He had a knee-to-knee collision in the match. Then something similar happened again after the game when he ran. But it was just a slap on the knee, he says.

Nygren: “It hurt”

For another Swedish player, Benjamin Nygren, worries arose already during the match. When he was about to pass, he got tackled at the same time and twisted his ankle.

– It hurt now and then. We were going to switch anyway so we took the safe bet. It still feels okay, says Nygren.

Although he was worried, it is a feeling that does not remain after the game.

– It feels good. You have still sprained your foot before so you can feel the difference. I can walk and move and stand on one leg and all that. It feels okay, says Nygren.

Were they a little tough? There was one tackle there at Gyökeres too.

– Yes. But that’s part of the sport. You give some, you get some. So it is.
