North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said that his country’s production of weapons-grade nuclear materials has more than doubled over the past five years.

Kim’s statements came while he was inspecting a nuclear materials production facility that had recently entered operation, according to North Korea’s Central News Agency.

He pledged to strengthen his country’s military nuclear capabilities, revealing that his country has an ambitious future plan aimed at rapidly strengthening the country’s nuclear capabilities.

Regarding the plan to enhance nuclear capabilities, the North Korean leader said that this represents an amazing and successful change beyond description, describing it as a historic event that constitutes a milestone in the process of rapidly developing Pyongyang’s nuclear capabilities.

North Korea insists on not giving up its nuclear arsenal and says that “this is an irreversible path,” despite pressure from the United States of America.

North Korea considers its nuclear arsenal a shield to protect it from any attack that might be launched by South Korea and the American forces stationed there.

In 1993, Pyongyang withdrew from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, and since then it has conducted six nuclear tests, which exposed it to many UN and international sanctions.

Last week, North Korea said it had tested a new lightweight multiple-missile system, in addition to a tactical cruise missile weapons system.

These tests came a day after South Korea announced that its northern neighbor fired several projectiles – including a ballistic missile – off its western coast, in the latest military tests this year, adding that the missiles passed a distance of approximately 80 kilometers.
