God of war is coming back.

On last night’s State of play, the new game was revealed ” God of War Laufey“

And there Kratos has to stand back.

Instead, it is his wife Faye who gets the main role.

Last night showed 23 minutes of gameplay. The date was not communicated, but the game should come “soon” to Playstation 5.

– We will continue to do stories about Kratos, but I think for us it was a chance to tell about someone who was so crucial to the beginning of the series, to get to know him and enter this new world, to surprise and see how things connect. SO for us it’s not a regression but rather an expansion, says director Cory Barlog IGN.

The plan was already in 2018, when the series was restarted with “the Nordic saga” where Kratos and his son will spread the ashes of his wife, to explore Faye’s history.

– She was everywhere in the story without actually being seen. In the 2018 game, she was more of an emotion than a person, a spirit whose influence permeated the entire plot. It gave her a very interesting weight and power. We felt it would be fascinating to learn more about her past, but also to see where her story goes next,” Barlog told IGN.

“God of war” is also made as an upcoming TV series for Prime video.

Other news from State of play includes a remake of Rayman, a new Tomb raider game on February 12 and a new Silent hill game on September 24.
