The Iraqi Ministry of Oil increased the quantities of gasoline offered for local consumption to 40 million liters per day during the past two days, with the aim of meeting the increasing demand and ensuring that citizens continue to be supplied with fuel without bottlenecks, according to the Iraqi News Agency.
Director General of the Petroleum Products Distribution Company, Hussein Talib, said that the company took proactive measures to secure a strategic stock of oil and gas derivatives, in implementation of the directives of the Deputy Prime Minister for Energy Affairs and Minister of Oil, in preparation for periods of high demand for fuel, especially during holidays and events.
He explained that the improved gasoline and regular gasoline offered for local consumption are produced locally, stressing that the available quantities are sufficient to meet the needs of the market.
He added that the demand for fuel witnessed a noticeable increase during the days of Eid al-Adha as a result of the increase in movement and travel, which prompted the company to provide additional quantities to cover the increased consumption.
He pointed out that the Petroleum Products Distribution Company was pumping about 33 million liters of gasoline per day for local consumption, before raising the quantities to 40 million liters per day during the past two days to keep pace with the growing demand.
