After a postponement imposed by the war, Iran is preparing to hold a major funeral for Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was assassinated in the first US-Israeli raids on Tehran on February 28.
In this context, Iranian state television quoted the head of the Islamic Propaganda Coordination Council in Tehran, Mohsen Mahmoudi, as saying that a special headquarters had been formed to prepare for the funeral ceremony, without specifying an official date for it.
Mahmoudi explained, quoted on television, that several organizations are working to create the necessary conditions so that major ceremonies can be held after the official announcement of the funeral, expecting large crowds to participate in it.

Last April, thousands of Iranians commemorated the 40th anniversary of the passing of the former Supreme Leader, but the official funeral that was initially announced did not take place due to the circumstances of the military confrontation.
Khamenei led the Islamic Republic for more than three decades, and his son, Mojtaba Khamenei, succeeded him as Supreme Leader. He was also struck by these blows and no public appearance has been recorded since he assumed the position.
