A teacher in the municipality of Skellefteå is convicted of sexual harassment after squeezing a 12-year-old student’s butt, reports SVT Nyheter.
It was in February 2024 that the event took place. The student has said in questioning that the teacher squeezed her butt and that a few hours after the incident she went to the school nurse and told them what had happened.
The teacher himself claims that he collided with the student and that he then grabbed her to keep her from falling. However, the district court does not buy that explanation and the man is sentenced to a suspended sentence and to pay SEK 15,000 in damages to the girl.
The teacher was also charged with another case of molestation where he was suspected of touching another student’s breasts. In that case he is acquitted. The man was allowed to continue working at the school pending the verdict, but resigned from his position in April this year.
