In a few hours it could be summer in Haparanda.

At the same time, there are Scanians who have to wait their turn.

– You are being overtaken now, says Lasse Rydqvist.

There are many people who are glancing at the weather apps right now, waiting for summer to make its proper entrance.

And now the season is spreading to more and more places in the country.

The meteorological one, that is. The requirement is: A daily average temperature of over ten degrees, five days straight.

IN Haparanda four days with sufficient daily temperature have been harvested, and are on their fifth. Now only hours remain before it can be considered summer in the border city.

“Seems to be delayed”

– If they finish, it will be the first place in Norrland to get summer this year. Also, it’s earlier than usual. It is usually in June for Haparanda, says Lasse Rydqvist, meteorologist at Klart.

The early summer in Haparanda stands out – not only by Norrland standards.

Significantly further down the map, Scania’s Ängelholm is still waiting its turn.

– It looks like it will take a while there. On average, they usually get summer almost a month before Haparanda, so it’s a bit surprising, says Rydqvist.

And Ängelholm is left quite alone in the spring in its area. Most places in southern Sweden start to get geographical summer.

Could be 20 degrees

– If you look at the season map, quite large parts of Götaland and south-eastern Svealand have summer. It is with the exception of the west coast and western Gotland where you can see that the wind has often been blowing from the southwest and cooling down, says Rydqvist.

Even if it is not necessarily time to pack up the sunbeds in Haparanda, just because it may be a meteorological summer, it looks quite pleasant in the future as well.

– It actually looks like it’s holding up a bit now. In the coming week, it may approach 20 degrees several times, says Lasse Rydqvist.
