A dinosaur fossil was found ten years ago next to a pond in northeastern Thailand. It turns out to be the largest dinosaur species found in Southeast Asia.
The British-Thai research group that studied the find states that the continent’s largest long-necked dinosaur to date weighed 27 tons and was 27 meters long.
Its full name is Nagatian chaiyaphumensis and it is estimated to have roamed the earth between 100 and 120 million years ago.
It is unlikely that the researchers will find more dinosaur remains like Nagatian, as the area later became a shallow sea, according to Thitiwoot Sethapanichsakul, lead author behind the study.
– This may be the last large long-necked dinosaur that we find in Southeast Asia, he tells the AFP news agency.
